Students have attended a
Product Design Course (75 hours) in which advanced surface and
solid modelling techniques have been used to complete the design
of a given product.
The students have been working during three weeks
in groups, on the design of a TV remote control, covering all the
stages of the product design process, from the initial idea to the
final prototype.
The first week they have learnt the use of
CAD systems ( solid & surface modelling), using ProEngineer
(PTC).
The second week they have
started with the design of the Remote Control (hand models,
sketches, conceptual design, detailed design). Design for
manufacturing.
During the last week they have
built the physical models using Rapid Prototyping, so they can
check tolerances, interferences and other attributes of the
product.
